Tips to stay healthy this holiday season!

Practice some of these tips this year to stay fit and trim over the holidays!

Plan A Time Each Week To Wear One Of Your Favorite Tight Outfits:

Whether it is a cute holiday dress for the girls, or a new muscle baring shirt for the guys, once you have in your mind that you want to wear your “hot” outfit for a particular reunion or party, you will be less likely to stuff your face. Since this is the Holidays, typically you will have at least one of these every ten days or so. You can, in this manner, save your cheat meals for the particular reunion, and then eat clean the remainder of the time.

Brush Your Teeth Following A Meal

Sounds silly but who wants to eat after they have that minty fresh breath?

Go outside and be active

Sitting around the house all day watching T.V., smelling the food cooking will keep you salivating and your stomach growling. Take a pre-dinner walk with the family or the dog. Go to the park, watch the kids play ball.
If you are really motivated, go for a jog/run before dinner or later in the evening.
Being active will not only help burn off more calories than sitting in front of the tube, it will also keep you from being in “eating” mode from the kitchen aromas.

Exercise during commercials.

Whether you listen to the radio or watch television, exercising during commercial breaks is a great way to get the whole family involved in staying fit for the holidays.

Expend more energy

Elbow grease – during your cleaning routines. Whether it’s washing dishes or cleaning the floor put some extra “sweat equity” into it.

Be flexible

When your days get busy, instead of simply blowing off your 5:15 p.m. trip to your workout class for an office party at the same time, wake up an hour early and walk or jog or class before work. Or fit a brisk walk into your lunch hour.

Give yourself a reason

New York-based exercise physiologist and personal trainer Louis Coraggio advises his clients to book a long weekend getaway at a warm destination for January or February, This will motivate you to keep exercise a priority. When you’re tempted to slack off, envision yourself looking good on the beach.
